EXPERIENCE
Tamara Garrett holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Hardin-Simmons University and a Master of Music in Music Education from Southern Methodist University. She taught choral music in Texas public schools for eight years before establishing her private voice studio in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. For the past 11 years, Tamara has maintained an active voice studio from her home and has collaborated with local high school choral departments in the DFW area to provide private instruction to students during the school day.
As a soprano soloist, musical theatre performer, worship leader, and former three-year member of the TMEA All-State Choir, Tamara has a deep understanding of the rigorous demands placed on young singers in their musical pursuits. She has a true passion for coaching students through auditions across various competitive opportunities and providing consultation to local high school choral and musical theatre programs, with a focus on fostering vocal exploration and confidence.
STUDIO
Tamara is dedicated to cultivating confidence and helping young singers to unlock and develop their best, authentic sound. In lessons, students can expect to work toward building a strong foundation in vocal technique, breath control, and tone production. Depending on individual goals, lessons may also involve instruction in music literacy, vowel formation, vocal placement, resonance, diction, vocal health, characterization, and theatrical presentation. While specializing primarily in classical and musical theatre styles, Tamara believes that healthy vocal technique is applicable across all styles of singing. Each lesson is tailored to address the unique strengths and needs of every student.

STUDENT WINS
Under Tamara's guidance, students have gained admission to music programs and universities nationwide, as well as competitive musical theatre summer intensives, and TMEA/TAPPS Region and All-State Choirs. Her students have secured leading and supporting roles in local musical theatre productions, performed at notable festivals and workshops, and earned honors at competitions such as the Dallas Summer Musical Awards, Slaughter Family Arts Awards, UIL Solo & Ensemble, and various local scholarship recitals.

Tamara is a professional member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and holds a K-12 Choral Music teaching certification in the state of Texas. Recently relocated to Northern Colorado, she is excited to continue establishing her new studio of talented singers! Tamara resides in Timnath with her husband, Scott; daughters, Ellis and Margot; and Ritz, the Schnoodle pup.
